Spring Break in Alberta Alberta, Canada is no stranger to winter sports enthusiasts. The 1998 Winter Olympics were held in Calgary, one of the cities in Alberta. If you want to experience Olympic quality skiing and snow sports during your winter break, Alberta is the place to be. Lake Louise Mountain Resort is the best resort to experience Alberta winter sports. It is one of the most popular ski resorts in all of Canada and is part of the Banff National Park. It features over 7,700 acres of skiable terrain surrounded by spectacular preserved wildlife. If you’re coming from another province, you can fly directly into Calgary International Airport and arrive at the resort in less than 2 hours. The two other most popular resorts in the province are also part of Banff National Park. Sunshine Village and Mt. Norguay have the characteristic light, dry powder that makes the area so popular for skiing. If you’re a thrill seeker, you can enjoy heli-skiing at any one of the parks. In this popular winter sport, skiers and snowboarders leap from a low flying helicopter directly onto the slopes. In addition to the parks in Banff, there are many other spring break destinations to choose from in Alberta. Look into parks around Edmonton, Medicine Hat and Red Deer that are closer to civilization.
